“Drive to 75” Co-Chair
Nancy Haberman Gacioch ’62, is a philanthropist, business owner, and a dedicated, long-time supporter of many Western New York charitable organizations. Ms. Gacioch earned a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in economics from Rosary Hill College (now Daemen College) in 1962. She continues to be an active and engaged alumna of the college and is the co-chair of Daemen’s first-ever comprehensive capital campaign, the “Drive to 75.”
Ms. Gacioch’s impact can be felt across campus. She served as a valued member of Daemen College’s Board of Trustees from 2006 to 2012. As a former teacher believing there ought to be a significant incentive for women in the area of business entrepreneurship, she generously provided the support to start and maintain the Daemen College Interdisciplinary Minor in Entrepreneurship, and an accompanying lecture series in her name. Ms. Gacioch also provided funding for a new scholarship, the Nancy Haberman Gacioch Endowed Scholarship for Women, which is needs-based and primarily for WNY residents. As a further benefit to innovation, she established the Entrepreneurship Program Professorship.
There’s more pleasure in giving than getting. We’ve always felt that way – it is vital to help those in need. Maybe you can’t be there and totally involved physically, but you’re still providing organizations with the things they need to keep going. It is great to be able to provide some assistance to our community.
Nancy Haberman Gacioch
Because of the generosity of Nancy and her husband Bill, the campus is now home to the Haberman Gacioch Visual & Performing Arts Center, which serves as a valuable exhibit space for Daemen students and alumni, and the Nancy Haberman Gacioch Center for Veterans, which welcomes students who are active or retired members of the military as well as student dependents of military service members.
Ms. Gacioch was honored in 2004 with the Outstanding Service to Community award at Daemen College’s annual Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner.
While her impact has – and continues to be – tremendous at Daemen, her efforts extend far beyond the college. There is no corner of WNY she has not helped. Ms. Gacioch co-chaired the first phase of the first Capital Campaign for Buffalo’s Sacred Heart Academy and has been involved with the Board of Directors for both St. Francis High School in Athol Springs and the Hospice Foundation. She also served on the Board of Trustees of Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, and while on its executive board helped create special programs at the grammar school level. She is a Foundation Board Member of the Child Advocacy Center, now under the umbrella of BestSelf Behavioral Health. Ms. Gacioch’s philanthropic spirit has also been felt by the Buffalo City Mission, Cradle Beach, the Salvation Army, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
Gacioch is grateful to be able to give back and credits doing so to her and her husband’s success in business. Their company, National Property Management Associates (NPMA), was founded more than 45 years ago and now employs 300 people and provides housing for more than 25,000 tenants around the country – enabling them to impact countless more.
