Drive for Intellectual Distinction
Daemen College is proud to be a college of national distinction; we are focused on excellence in programming that enables student success and maximizes community impact.
Two of our most distinguished programs are our prominent Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant Studies programs. These programs consistently elevate the visibility and distinction of the college and are highly competitive on the national scale. Our physical therapy program has a current Three Year Weighted Average Ultimate Pass Rate of 100% for first time pass rates on the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE), which is above both New York State and national averages.
We also are cognizant of the diverse needs of today’s students – who are likely digital natives, who may work while attending school, and who may have additional family obligations. Where appropriate, we continue to build online programming as a complement to traditional in-class offerings. Our master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis can now be completed in-person, online or via a hybrid approach, and the same will be true of our Master of Social Work beginning next year. These are just two of the 24 programs we’ve introduced during the last five years – a list that includes varied, in-demand programs such as Animation, Data Science and International Business. These programs continue to raise our profile nationally and even internationally. With our MSW program alone, we have students from California to Israel.
One of the things we are most excited about is our Institute for Government and Non-Profit, Innovation, Training and Evaluation (IGNITE). IGNITE, in partnership with our Social Work and Sociology programs, offers high quality, affordably priced, community-based research, training and technical assistance services to organizations throughout WNY. IGNITE has managed 62 projects with 30 organizations over the last four years and is poised to grow significantly as we update Curtis Hall to house the center. Students who participate in IGNITE graduate with skills and experiences far superior to those at competing schools.
Our programs are well-respected in the community and we continue to look at the needs of the market when developing new and adapting existing offerings. But, we can’t do this without your help. Facility improvements, physical laboratory spaces and new technology are essential to providing strong, immersive and hands-on educational experiences in all of our programs, but especially in the sciences.
We need to make significant upgrades to our laboratories to ensure students have the state-of-the-art spaces they need to produce the highest quality of research, integrate in hands-on learning, and maximize success.
With your help, we can meet and exceed the evolving needs of our students and continue to recruit top minds, both students and faculty, to ensure that we maintain our competitive advantage over peer institutions.
